Slow Cooker Pot Roast with Broccoli Rabe

This recipe is very easy – the only snafu you might encounter is finding the ingredients. I wish Jesben sauces were more readily available in my area. When I do find them, usually there are only a few jars, all of which I buy. Also, I am told broccoli rabe is not sold everywhere. I would say kale might work. Let me know if you try the substitution.

This can be a good choice for kids, if you use lean meat. It’s tender and not dry. We like rump the best. Btw, Jesben sauces are 100% natural and gluten-free.

The Basics:

  • 1 jar Jesben BBQ sauce
  • 3.5 lb rump roast, fat trimmed
  • 4-6 gold or white potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 2 cups of broccoli rabe, cleaned and thick stems removed

IMG_7281Place the potatoes in bottom of slow cooker.

Cover with broccoli rabe.

Place meat on top.

Pour sauce over.

Cover and cook for 8 or 8.5 hours on low, or until meat is tender but not falling apart.
