Are You Ready for Your First BBQ?: Margaret’s Family Fave

Food Sharing Network guest contributor Margaret C. Bridge has more than one recipe that her family craves, including this quick and easy BBQ sauce. It’s especially delicious on pork ribs and ready in just about 15 minutes.

Quick and Tasty BBQ Sauce

Prep time 5 minutes

Cook time 10 minutes

The Basics:

  • 1 12-ounce jar Heinz Chili Sauce
  • 1-tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar

20140803_193522Begin by reheating grill to medium high.

Mince onion and add to saucepan with oil.

Cook over medium heat until onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add chili sauce, vinegar and brown sugar and simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.

Grill on each side on medium high heat for 10 minutes.

Baste both sides of ribs frequently with BBQ sauce.

Extra sauce, at room temperature or warmed, can be used for dipping at the table.

Excellent with chicken pieces on the bone too.

Sauce also freezes very well.

Options: Cook ribs on a rack at 375 degrees in a preheated oven. Ribs take about 45 minutes. Turn and baste both sides frequently.
