Chocolate Sour Cream Pound Cake

Saturday I wrote about the menu I would be serving the next day, which included a new recipe. I usually don’t try new recipes for company, but the recipe was appealing enough so I decided to take a chance. Let’s face it, how can you go wrong with a cake that includes numerous eggs, butter, 2 kinds of sugar, cocoa and sour cream?

Chocolate Sour Cream Pound CakeFood Sharing Network is quite pleased to share this recipe by food.com for chocolate sour cream pound cake. It is so good my sister-in-law requested it for Thanksgiving after a few bites. It’s a moist, dense, sweet, rich and very large chocolate cake.

Two comments:

The instructions call for baking soda, which is not listed with the ingredients. I guessed at 1 teaspoon. That was fine.

Also, the cake takes longer to mix and bake than noted. So, expect to be in the kitchen a bit longer. In any event, the results will be well worth your time.

Variations:

Serve with ice cream or whipped cream, although the cake is delicious plain. I did not not even use powdered sugar, an optional ingredient.
