Baked Macaroni and Cheese

If you’re like me, you’re already thinking about entertaining in the nice weather. From Memorial Day through September, I enjoy eating outdoors. We don’t grill, so I have to work a bit at meeting expectations. Food Sharing Network is pleased to share a family fave, Baked Macaroni and Cheese from McCall’s Cook Book, copyright 1963.

I’ve made the dish under countless circumstances, including Thanksgiving dinner so my then-vegetarian son would have an entree. Pictured here is a lunch I served on our deck one spring. The menu included a green salad and my favorite boiled Thumann’s hot dog.  I learned a long time ago that a frankfurter with the works can be a huge treat for some guests (me too).

    I tried this recipe the other day. It’s easy to make and very tasty. I think layering the cheese with the pasta and then putting the white sauce on it makes all the difference. Thanks!
